Doctor Neel Raithatha from the Hear Clinic in the Oadby area, Leicestershire, England, managed to remove a piece of cotton bud that had been stuck in the ear of an unnamed man on June 6, 2017. How can a cotton bud get stuck in the ear?Reporting from Story Trender, this patient came to the clinic where Neel works because he experienced excruciating pain sensations and hearing loss in his right ear. The patient also mentioned that he had accidentally inserted a cotton bud into his ear until it broke and could not be removed two years ago. Although he tried to get the cotton bud back out, the man was unable to do so but it seemed to just disappear for some time. Because it did not trigger any symptoms, the man just let it go. But after swimming, his ears then swelled and hurt. Neel said the patient's hearing had decreased drastically, especially in his right ear. Fortunately, his eardrums did not suffer any damage as a result of this. Neel said that it only took him a minute to remove this piece of cotton bud from his ear canal. The position of this cotton bud piece is not so difficult to reach and remove. Like other health experts in the ENT field, Neel advised everyone not to use cotton buds to clean the ears, especially if the cotton bud pushes the eardrum because it is feared that it can cause hearing damage.
